How We Research

We are parents writing for parents, and we want you to know exactly how our recommendations are made.

We research, we don't pretend

SproutPicks guides are research-based. We do not claim hands-on testing unless a review explicitly says we tested a product ourselves.

Our process

  1. Start with what families actually buy. We look at best-selling and highly rated products with long review histories.
  2. Check the specs. Dimensions, materials, weight limits, age ranges, attachment methods and safety certifications where relevant.
  3. Read the reviews, especially the bad ones. We read verified buyer reviews and look for patterns: what breaks, what sags, what doesn't fit.
  4. Cross-check trusted sources. Parent-focused review sites, hands-on reviews by others, and safety guidance from organizations like the NHTSA and AAP where relevant.
  5. Match products to real needs. We pick options for different budgets, ages and family setups, and we say who should skip each one.

Every guide includes

  • A "What buyers say" summary for each pick
  • Honest pros, cons and "who should skip it"
  • A clear affiliate disclosure

Keeping things current

Products change. We revisit guides regularly and update the date when we do. Spot something out of date? Let us know.

Safety note: our guides are not a substitute for manufacturer instructions or professional advice. Always follow your car seat and vehicle manuals.
